It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 11/08

I have the immune system with super powers. Seriously. My kids get sick, my husband gets sick, and like the Energizer Bunny, my white blood cells just keep eating any intruders. I just don't get sick.

Until this weekend. A bad cold has been lingering around the house for about two weeks. Last Friday my husband even boasted to a colleague that I won't get it. I never get anything but irritable bowel syndrome. Hmmm. I fear I've shared too much.

Anyway, I forgot how lovely it is to be truly sick. No guilt when I call in sick to work because there is absolutely no doubt that I am too sick to go to work. And so I laid in bed all day and read, snoozed, and read some more.

Weirdly, a perfect day. I already planned on creamy chicken noodle soup for dinner. Of course, I'll have to cook it. Or I can have kids serve me. I think they can set the table. Maybe even follow written instructions.

Last week I read:

Run to Overcome: The Inspiring Story of an American Champion's Long-Distance Quest to Achieve a Big DreamThe Distant Hours: A Novel Lipstick in AfghanistanSpin the PlateHatteras Girl

This week I am reading (and returning to bed to do so in just a minute.  Forget the kids. I'm sick):

NightingaleThe Imperial Cruise: A Secret History of Empire and WarScorpions: The Battles and Triumphs of FDR's Great Supreme Court JusticesRemarkable Creatures: A Novel Stronger: Trading Brokenness for Unbreakable Strength

New giveaways this week will include:

How Music Works: The Science and Psychology of Beautiful Sounds, from Beethoven to the Beatles and BeyondLipstick in Afghanistan

I just finished the "Fever" series (1 thru 4) by Karen Marie Moning. I don't know what I will pick up next, but I got two good looking books today, so probably one of those.
