Deadly Fear GIVEAWAY

FBI Special Agent Monica Davenport has made a career out of profiling serial killers. But getting inside the twisted minds of the cruel and the sadistic has taken its toll: She's walled herself off from the world. Yet Monica can't ignore fellow agent Luke Dante, the only man who ever broke through her defenses.
This is the first book in a series by Cynthia Eden.  This is both a romance and a thriller.  Doses are exceedingly heavy in both genres.  It is twisted, sexy, and solid.  Cynthia is my guest today.  Without further ado, here she is:

Cynthia: One of the questions that I am asked most often is, “What inspires your story ideas?” But, honestly, for me, the question should probably be, “What doesn’t inspire a story idea?”Getting inspiration has never been a problem for me. I think that is due to the fact that I am a long-term day-dreamer. When I was a kid, I was always spinning stories in my head, and now that I am far past those kid days—yep, I still day-dream. Only now, I generally call that, ahem, “brain-storming” instead of day-dreaming.

Ideas can come to me at any time. When I’m going for a walk, when I’ m listening to a song, or even when I am watching a movie. Sometimes, characters in movies will inspire me and I’ll think—wow, that bad guy should have been the hero. And then I’ll go off and craft a story with a very dangerous anti-hero.

I found out long ago that it is one thing to actually get story ideas—and it’s quite another matter to be able to remember these ideas long enough to flesh them out into full-blown novels. So, when I became serious about my writing, I immediately created an Idea File.

(Once upon a time, this Idea File existed in an old notebook. Now it’s all high-tech and saved on my computer for easy editing.)

Whenever I get a story idea, I stop what I’m doing and race to my Idea File. I type down as many facts as I can remember in that file, then I save it, and walk away. I keep working on my current tale. Thanks to the file, I know that the new story plot will be waiting for me another day. The Idea File really helps to knock out writer’s block. It’s easy to work on a story when you have fifteen pages of ideas waiting for you.

So—that’s my secret. Inspiration comes to me in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Peaceful walks. Hard, gritty rock music. Awesome villains. All of those things inspire me.

But what inspires you?

Thanks so much for posting the giveaway and for inviting me to guest blog! I apologize for the delay in responding—today I was driving home from Orlando! (I just attend the RWA conference and had a great time meeting other writers and readers.)

I love romance and the idea of romance and I am always imagining what I would do if I were the romantic lead (of movies, books, songs). And from this, I get lots of story ideas... and then I think about them and write them in my head when I am trying to go to sleep or driving by myself.

I can't get them out of there though.

Thanks for the Idea File... That would definitely help me get them out.

Mostly, I get inspired every time I get up in the morning. I watch Tv talk to friends, live a normal life. But I always wonder what is this happened or that happened, so I get inspiration from everywhere!

Your book sounds really interesting, Cynthia--and creepy!
What inspires me? Hrmm...It depends on the story I'm working on at the time; it could be anything from a prompt I read somewhere to an article in the newspaper or a report on the news. Or it could dredge itself up after a dream. And yes, i too have bunches and bunches of notebooks and word files filled with idea snippets. :) Good luck with Deadly Fear!
