This sounds like a great resource - and probably one that's more "fun" to read than some of the "how to" books available on writing :o)
I've been lucky enough to have two out of three submissions published. I started two more short stories, but lost my muse. I don't know if one is worthy of a novel, or whether it should be a short story. The other one? I just seemed to run out of motivation (I'm gonna blame it on the Nazi president of my writing group - she sucks the joy out of the air).
This book could be a great resource for me.
